The Late - Apostle D. C. Thomas, Sr.
(The Man, The Myth, The Legend)

7.16.1962 - 3.11.2022

Bishop David C. Thomas was proud to be born and raised in the city of Trenton, NJ, and lived his life in the continuous service of the betterment of this city. During the years of 1985-2022 Bishop David C. Thomas, Sr. developed numerous community outreach programs that touched many people throughout the Greater Trenton Area.  He began his journey in community outreach in 1985 through the development of an afterschool program for Trenton students from Elementary School through the Junior High School level.  He then initiated a Youth Summer Camp which also served as a feeding program. Using his own personal resources,  he bought a bus for the purpose of sponsoring trips to shows, and outside cultural events in order to expose people who lived in the low-income housing complex of Oakland Park to other settings beyond their scope of reference.

Throughout the years, Bishop David C. Thomas, Sr. also sponsored many parades, carnivals, and block parties in the city of Trenton for the purpose of community outreach and alliance. Bishop Thomas developed a Food Delivery Program which delivered food directly to the homes of people and families who were unable to purchase food due to their insufficient income. In addition, Bishop Thomas developed what would be known as the “Christian Home Better Life Development Center”.  Through this center, and without any government grants or subsidies, over 300 men were able to be free of their drug and/or alcohol addiction and change their lives.

Many of these men are now married with families and gainfully employed. Some have become business owners, and some are now pastoring churches of their own. Most recently, Bishop Thomas renovated and instituted a transportable Feeding Mobile that feeds approximately 200-500 people per run. This fully-functioning Foodtruck prepares hot meals directly within it and therefore has been used to prepare and feed breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus to those in need within the city of Trenton. Most recently, in collaboration with the Mercer Street Friends, Bishop Thomas also instituted a food bank that gives bags of food to low-income and needy families throughout the Trenton area.

Bishop D.C. Thomas, Sr. was a pioneer of outreach and goodwill throughout the city of Trenton, and his work still continues through the outreach services of Word Alive Center, which is the ministry he founded in 1990. This ministry is located at 31 West Front Street, in the heart of Trenton, NJ, and is committed to continuing in the legacy of Bishop Thomas through the service of community outreach.

Our Apostle wrote the vision some time ago, and the vision has slowly come to pass; but although it tarries, it shall speak…Wait for it!!
